    Hi there,
It has been a long time since I made a new bike post, and even longer since my Honda Beat was mine.

a couple of hours ago I put a deposit on one of this:

and went crazy and paid the extra money to get the tri color one!! It is a 2018 honda elite 125 cc FI. It is hard to get a test drive on since they are not aren't many around and dealers don't do many test drives.
I was between this one and the Crusing (also 125 cc) but FI, the LED lights and the great breaks sold me, yes I had to paid more for this model .

    THe numbers?
    The dash board is cool!

the numbers I care, about 125 cc, 8.9 hp still no real mpgs but the elite 125 of 2015 got around 40 km/lt or 94 milles/usg and it was carbourated so this one should get the same or better, and a gas tank of 6.4 lts (1.69 US gallons) and very important, a disk brake up front 190 mm and drum rear.

Since I drove it I know what I am getting ...

    More to come soon!!!

  2. Good looking bike...
    Enjoy the ride.:beer
  3. I agree. Looks like a fine machine. Congrats!
  4. a pic..

    day one!

  5. well maybe most if not all, do not know me, so I will introduce myself. I am Mexican (one of the few that are good people, to kind off quote the US president). I live in Ensenada, BAJA and since 2004 I have own a motorcycle, and my life has never been the same.

I was closing at age 28 when I first rode a bike, and since I did not know anybody to lent me a bike, I just went and bought a Honda 125 cc Bros, and had to read the manual to figure out where 2nd gear was, and love was in the air!!

So for one year I rode it as fast and as far as a 125 cc bike goes, and it was time to grow and buy something bigger...So here it's what I though was the best option for my budger, a 2005 kawasaki KLR650
    [IMG]

ask anybody and a KLR will never stay stock...so I did a lot of changes (add ons) and I love that bike for over a decade...

Then came the scooter that change me (again) a HOnda Beat, 110 cc
    [IMG]

This scooter was an entry level, and it was what I wanted, you see I was too old to have one, and with a bigger bike and a car and truck there was like no real need for a scooter, but just 'cause I got it anyway.

So, you met the nicest people on a Honda, right? I just did!
    then you met more..

    and you go places..

    sometimes very fast (km/hr)

other bikes I had, other bikes I would have, but when you are on a scooter, people here see you as not a dangerous person, and they let you in to places where you can be in touch with yourself..(zen moment)

and for 2 years I drove this Beat almost every day to and from work, never a problem, just gas, a tire or 2, and regular visits for service.

The Beat was a lot of great things, and a ocouple of bads. 110 cc can only do 80 km/hr (about 50 mph) on a flat with no wind and a long time to get there. I did not sell it for that reason, a friend need it something to go to work while his SUV had a new transmittion put in, so he got it and then sold it to his friend...

BUt I have to say, a scooter is something I always want in my garage...

NOW 2017 it was the year that I did it!! the Honda Elite 125 cc was redesign for 2018 and it was a good one!

Here is the first pic I took
    [IMG]
and this is me with my I AM SO HAPPY face!

I hope we get to ride as much as possible..
    So much more to come

    Damasovi

  6. You said it well! Scooters are best. Especially Honda's!
  7. loving the ride! every mile of it!
  8. Congrats on the new scooter! It looks really nice in the tricolor paint scheme.

Just out of curiosity: the Zoomer X didn't tempt you?

  9. a bit but a bit more expensive and I did not like it as much, I know it has some cool tec but the elite just spoke to me, and with that, nothing else matters!! lol!! How do you like yours? likes? dislikes? I am still in the break in period, but I will get over it fast! the manual calls for only 500 kms of "no fast accelarations" and I think I can do that. I will be off from work next Friday and the ridding I will go on Monday, instead of coming to work, weather is perfect for nice, long(er) rides..

    Saludos amigo!

  10. I rode mine hard from Monterrey to San Antonio. I changed the oil as soon as I arrived in San Antonio.

I really like it. There's not a lot I can say about the Zoomer X that I don't like. The trunk space is open on the sides so it does limit what you can take (you need a backpack you stuff in the trunk).

I rode it to work here in Houston a few times before it got cold. It still has a Nuevo Leon plate. I don't think people can tell. I rode it to Chinatown and some young Asian guy in his car really starred with a look on his face. I think he recognized the scooter but couldn't understand how there could be a Zoomer X in Houston. :lol3

Enjoy your Elite. It looks really awesome!

  11. 100 MILES IN! and then some!

Well it has been almost a month since I boouth this bike home, and loving it.

The manual said I must reach 500 kms before all out ridding, the sad thing is that is written as a guide line is "do not speed up too fast" it does not mention anything about top speed or the like, so I have not run it at 100% for a long time.

    Sometimes she sleeps indoors:
    [IMG] [IMG]

So far I am in thank #3 (over 340 kms). Here is what I have gotten, first tank 39 km/lt or 91.7 mpg. Second tank it did just a bit better at 40.5 km/lt (95.262). The difference may be because the first were mostly city use and the second time I did about 90 miles of road (hwy) at constant speeds of 40-45 mph with a some 55-60 mph for short time.

Here we are at the local park-zoo, it is call Park Jersey (milk company) and it is a family oriented private park and zoo, my 10 year old loves it, it is nice with some cool animals (not many) but some big ones, wolves, bears, camels and some lions and many monkeys and birds ....

As you can see in the pic above, I rode with a friend who has a 150 cc zuma imitation, made by italika. the w150, in case you want and can read it (http://italika.mx/Modelos/Motoneta/W150/)

we rode side by side and had a lot of fun, some 90 miles over 2.5 hrs, he loves his scooter and I love mine. what could be better?? Anyway this W150 is carb vs FI of my Elite and the mpg prove it, 4 less km/lt (9.5 mpg) speed, we did the same so 150 vs 125 = the same.

Tomorrow I will finish the break it, at the last day of the year!!!!

Happy new year guys and keep riding!!

    =retread= and cabanza like this.
  12. Congratulations! And Feliz Ano Nuevo.
  13. Congrats, Damasovi! Wishing you continued enjoyment with the new scoot! Good to see you posting here again.
  14. Good riding with you new scooter guy. I wish we could buy scooters at the price you can down there .
  15. LOL!!! thank you so much!!! FYI I still don't need a new "ano" but I know you meant "año" and the same to you!!!
  16. thank you Captain! We do not get the PCX here, but the Elite's price is like 60% of the PCX's so It is good! And for the next year I will be posting a lot more because I think I will be able to write and contribute.

    See you!!

  17. funny thing, the grass is always greener on the other side right?? I went back and read my postings and I did not included the price tag for my scooter. It costed $35,990 mexican pesos and the exchange rate was 19 to 1, so $1,894 USD and this is an expensive scooter, first it is FI, special paint and it has disk brake (1) for a comparison a 2018 Yamaha Ray Z (110 FI) will cost $26,999 that is $1,421 usd. and if you go the Italika way (#1 selling brand in Mexico) a 125 cc will be around $1,000 USD. On the other hand big bikes will cost equal or MORE than in the USA, for example when I bough my KLR I paid $7,000 USD BUT that includes a $1,400 usd importation fee and STILL save about $1,500 usd vs buying the KLR at a Mexican Kawasaki shop.

Still, do you want me to drive up and leave a bike??

    Cheers amigo!!

  18. Sorry about the spelling. I guess that makes me el ano. I was just too lazy to figure out how to put the ~ over the n.

I've never bought a new scooter, but I buy used neglected scooters that rarely run from people who have no clue how to fix them and don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to someone. That's a lot of people in Northern California, so the scooters I buy are cheap.

  19. Well today I put another 100 kms, and went to my unofficial testing road, to La Bufadora. this is what you see in this picture (from the web)

why this road? it has nice perfect asfalt, then so crapy uneven and city and hwy to get there. So I was doing city driving plus hwy up to 90 km/hr or about 55 mph.

this is part of the road:

But when you are in the last day of the year and on vacation, well 7 am is not an option, so it was midday and I need it breakfast, so I stop in the area know as Maneadero, a very small part of my county, for some Machaca but Octopus machaca...

    very good!!
The tide was low and the wet lands were almost empty,
    [IMG]

Not much to say, just a couple of pictures, and yes the Elite held well, with no slowing down and keeping up with traffic at the pace I wanted
    [IMG]

I got there!! my ugly face

All in all, a great ride!! may 2018 bring many new adventures for all off us!! Feliz año everybody!!!

  20. No worries my friend, and I wish I had that knowledge to buy old/beat up bikes and fix them myself!
